1 loaf day-old bread, cubed 1/2 cup butter 1 piece onion, chopped 3 stalks celery, chopped 2 cups chicken or turkey broth 2 tbsp sage to taste salt & pepper
Preheat the oven to 350°F .
Melt butter in a large pan over medium heat.
Sauté the onion and celery in the butter until soft (about 5 minutes).
Add the cubed bread, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper to the pan, stirring until combined.
Gradually add the broth , stirring continuously until the bread is moist but not soggy
Transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
Bake for 30 minutes , or until the stuffing is golden and crisp on top.
For extra flavor, consider adding sausage, apples, or cranberries.
You can use homemade or store-bought chicken/turkey broth.
Stale bread is best to absorb the broth. If using fresh bread, lightly toast the cubes before starting the recipe.
