Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf day-old bread, cubed
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 piece onion, chopped
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 cups chicken or turkey broth
  • 2 tbsp sage
  • to taste salt & pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Melt butter in a large pan over medium heat.
  • Sauté the onion and celery in the butter until soft (about 5 minutes).
  • Add the cubed bread, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper to the pan, stirring until combined.
  • Gradually add the broth, stirring continuously until the bread is moist but not soggy
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, or until the stuffing is golden and crisp on top.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding sausage, apples, or cranberries.
  • You can use homemade or store-bought chicken/turkey broth.
  • Stale bread is best to absorb the broth. If using fresh bread, lightly toast the cubes before starting the recipe.
  • Adjust the seasoning to taste.
