I love baking and making fun treats for my family, but I’m not gonna lie sometimes it’s very exhausting!
Any mom hack or quick tip to make life easier and I’m ALL about it. I use box cake and follow the instructions although sometimes I’ll make a cake from scratch. Cupcakes obviously are super quick and easy and I used De Buyer’s Pastry Gun for an easy, low mess way to fill the cupcake tray.
The De Buyer’s Pastry Gun has 1000s of uses, from cookie stamping, to frosting and filings, to pestos and more.
Now onto the cake balls. They are such a fun and easy treat to make that seems like it’s a super complicated treat to make for Valentine’s day but it’s actually super simple!
Step one, make the box cake following the instructions.
While the cake is still warm, shred/crumble the cake. Cupcakes are done or you could add frosting!
Warm up frosting and mix it with the crumbled cake until it sticks together. Roll cake until it forms small 1″ balls.
Place cake balls in freezer to help keep them together for frosting.
If you have sticks to make them cake pops, this is where you’ll do this. See my cake pops from last year.
After the cake balls are well chilled, heat up the frosting so that if becomes thinner and easy to dip the cake balls.
Using a fork or spoon, lower the cake balls into the frosting and roll around covering the cake ball.
Add sprinkles or whatever decoration you’d like and enjoy!
